What This Service Is:

The Custom Thumb Mold system creates a true copy of your exact thumb shape by pouring a silicone mold into your existing thumb hole. Once the mold sets, we use it to create a solid, non-interchangeable custom thumb insert using quick plug materials.

This insert is a cast of your natural thumb shape — not just the size, but the contour, taper, pad pressure points, and overall geometry of your preferred feel.

This service is ideal for bowlers who:

• Can’t use interchangeable thumb systems

• Have had issues with switch grips or IT-style systems

• Want increased comfort, security, and a consistent feel

• Prefer a thumb shape that is smoother, more natural, and molded to them

How It Works:

Step 1 — Create Your Silicone Thumb Mold
We pour silicone into your current thumb hole to capture your shape.

• This creates your master mold.

• Turnaround: 1 day

• Cost: $15

Step 2 — Create Custom Thumb Inserts From Your Mold
We use your silicone mold to cast individual thumb inserts for additional bowling balls.
Each insert is manually poured, shaped, and finished.

• Cost: $20 per extra insert

• Turnaround: 1 day per insert

Important Details to Know:

While Exactacator inserts are highly durable — with no moving parts to crack or wear out — they do have some natural limitations:

• Because inserts are manually cast, small variations in pitch may occur from ball to ball.

• The silicone mold must be perfectly centered inside the cylinder; otherwise, pitch can be slightly off.

• Inserts can occasionally come loose from the ball as the insert material continues to cure, harden and shrink. 

• This system does not interchange between balls; each one must be permanently installed.

• These can be added to an interchangeable system, if you have one thumb hole that has never been successfully duplicated, you can create a mold and put it into an interchangeable system. 

For most bowlers who want a molded, organic thumb feel but dislike interchangeables, this system is a great alternative.

Turnaround Time:

• 1 day for the initial silicone mold

• 1 day per additional insert
