What This Service Is:

Our Hole Enlargement service adjusts an existing thumb or finger hole to a larger size for improved comfort, cleaner release, or to match your current fit. This is a common service for bowlers whose hand size or flexibility has changed over time, or for those converting used equipment to fit properly.

Depending on how much material must be removed, hole enlargement may be done by manual shaping tools or may require use of the drill press for precise and uniform sizing.

Two Levels of Service (Based on Amount of Work Needed):

1. Manual Enlargement (Light Adjustment)

We use specialized hand tools to lightly expand the hole.
This option works best when:

• Only a small amount of material needs to be removed

• The shape and pitch of the hole remain intact

• The bowler only needs a slight comfort adjustment

• The hole is already close to the desired size

Manual work is quick, controlled, and smooth — perfect for fine-tuning.

2. Drill Press Enlargement (Major Adjustment)

When more significant enlargement is needed, we use the drill press to cut the hole uniformly to the new size.
This method is necessary when:

• The hole needs to increase by more than one size

• The pitch or angle must be preserved precisely

• The previous hole is uneven, misshaped, or poorly drilled

• A professional, perfectly round finish is required

The drill press ensures accuracy, roundness, and clean geometry.

What’s Included:

• Fit evaluation to determine new hole size

• Manual tool shaping or machine cutting (based on required enlargement)

• Beveling and finishing for maximum comfort

• Final fit check to ensure clean release

Turnaround Time:

• Manual adjustments: typically 5–10 minutes

• Drill press adjustments: typically 10–20 minutes

• If the hole needs to be reduced rather than enlarged, a plug service will be required instead.

• When enlarging significantly, some cosmetic variation in color may appear depending on the ball’s core material exposure.
